My Story And Philosophy

Holistic and dignified end-of-life support grounded in palliative nursing experience

Here to help you live fully and die prepared.

Who am I

This work is not just what I do -it's who I am.

I am someone who walks gently beside people at one of life’s most vulnerable and sacred thresholds. As a trained death doula and experienced palliative care nurse, I bring both clinical grounding and deeply human presence to end-of-life support.

I’ve spent years supporting individuals and their loved ones through illness, grief and dying—both clinically and personally. My work is grounded in compassion, clarity and the belief that every person deserves to be seen, heard and supported at the end of life.

I bring not just professional knowledge but a steady presence, calm strength and deep respect for each person’s unique journey. I don’t arrive with an agenda—I arrive to listen, to advocate and to help create a space where dignity, choice and peace can flourish.

I specialise in home- based dying care and in supporting the carers of the dying through respite, visits and live-in support.

Away from this role, I’m a widow, a community volunteer and someone who seeks meaning through connection, reflection and lived experiences. I believe that sitting with death often teaches us how to live more fully - and that facing death doesn’t take away from life, it deepens it. I bring that understating to every person I support.

How I came to this work

My path to this work began in my twenties when I cared for my husband through his cancer journey. As his caregiver and medical advocate, I supported him as he navigated the emotional and physical challenges of diagnosis, treatment and impending death. A young man full of life, he struggled deeply with loss of independence and the reality of dying. During this time, I naturally stepped in to the role of confidant and guide - helping him move beyond fear and focus on what mattered most.

Later as his illness progressed we explored his wishes for quality of life and death. I honoured his decision to die at home providing care throughout his final days of life.

These years thought me firsthand the heartbreak and beauty of walking beside someone you love as they approach death.

I was changed by the truth that life is never guaranteed and that every moment is a gift.

This experience planted the seed for what would become a calling: to support others in meeting death with dignity and presence.

I yearned to engage with the profound depths and authenticity that only the realm of death and dying could offer.

In the years that followed I sought out more meaning and connection through volunteering in hospitals.  In 2017 guided by a growing commitment to holistic, person-centred end-of-life care, I left my corporate job to pursue nursing studies at Chisholm Institute and a career in palliative nursing.

As a palliative nurse, I've had the privileged of supporting individuals and their loved ones facing grief, loss and the many complex transitions that accompany death and dying.

I undertook formal training as a death doula completing End- Of-Life death doula 101, Foundation Workshop and Intensive Course Training with Preparing the Way, under the guidance of Helen Callanan - a highly respected leader in the deathcare space.  This training gave shape and structure to the work I had already been doing for many years.

I now combine my personal lived experience, clinical nursing background and formal doula training to offer specialised  support services to the dying and those who love them.

My role is to walk beside you—to guide, to advocate and to ease the burden of care so that you can conserve your energy to focus on what matters to you most.

Your trust and openness in welcoming me into this deeply personal process are heart felt.

My purpose

The deeper 'why' behind everything I hold space for, say and offer.

Death is not just a medical event —it is a profound human experience often emotional, sacred and deeply individual.

My purpose is to walk beside people as they near the end of life — and to support those who love them — with gentle presence, calm confidence and non-judgemental compassion.

I offer home-based end-of-life support because I believe dying belongs to individuals, families and communities — not just systems or hospitals.

Everyone deserves to feel held, heard and honoured in the dying process — whatever that looks like for them.

Every death is unique. Every story matters. My role is to help ensure yours is guided, dignified and on your own terms.

When people feel safe, supported and seen in their dying the whole experience changes- for them and for those they love.

Whether someone is seeking comfort, clarity or simply a quiet companion in the space between living and dying — I am here.

This work is rooted in my experience as a palliative nurse, my training as a death doula and my own lived encounters with loss, grief and transition.

This is my life's work and it's an honour to share it with those I support.

My method

Here's how I walk alongside you and your loved ones during this sacred time.

I support you to understand your rights, clarify your choices and ensure your voice is heard—whether you’re at home, in hospital or elsewhere.

I am here to ensure you have your chosen death.

I offer intermittent or an ongoing presence to maintain your dignity and support your loved ones in caring for you.

As a trained death doula and experienced palliative nurse, I specialise in advocating for the dying and supporting those who love them. My focus is on in-home end-of-life care including respite support, regular visits and live-in care - tailored to the needs of each individual and their loved ones.
